OWNER: Artistic Director Intro
to Dance, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary,
Jazz, & Hip-Hop
Nikki Groll began her dance training at the age of 3 with Marie
Shaw’s School of Dance. By the age of six she began auditioning
for local theater and ballet companies, with whom she performed
numerous roles, including the Nutcracker.
Over the next few years she added more styles of dance to her
training and excelled quickly to the highest levels of classes.
By the time she was 11 she was invited to be on the dance
studio’s competition team. She performed in numerous shows
and competitions, and was able to study with master teachers
from all across the US. In 1996 she added vocal training with
Broadway’s Jonathan Reinhold, and began to pursue Musical
Theater as a career.
Majoring in Musical Theater and Dance at West Chester
University of PA she quickly became a favorite in the
departments and was cast in numerous plays and musicals as well
as being picked for solos in the dance department’s numerous
showcases throughout the year! She continued her studies at West
Chester University of PA, until the fall of 1999 when she
interviewed with her first major company: Disney. She was hired
in November and moved to Orlando, FL in January of 2000 where she
worked at MGM Studios.
After working in Orlando, Miss Nikki moved to Long Beach Island,
NJ, where she worked for Surflight Theatre, a professional
musical theatre company. During her internship with Surflight, Miss Nikki was hand-selected to dance at an AIDS
benefit held in New Jersey. In July of 2000 she moved to
Rehoboth to work for Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theater
as Snow White, where she traveled all over Delmarva performing
the show. She also traveled to NYC where she was working on
commercials and magazine prints. In November she was hired by MTV Productions
to be in the commercial for a movie they were preparing to
release, Save the Last Dance. Not long after the
commercial aired she stumbled upon a local job, choreographing
Fame for Cape Henlopen High School.
Miss Nikki has had the opportunity to perform in many shows such
as: Anything Goes, The Balcony, Brigadoon, Cinderella, A Funny
Thing Happen on the Way to the Forum, For Whom the Southern
Belle Tolls, Grease, Guys and Dolls, Hair, Little Women, Meet Me
in St Louis, The Nutcraker, Once Upon a Mattress, Peter Pan,
Pippin, Snow White, Titanic, West Side Story and The
Wizard of Oz.
Some of her choreography credits include:
Damn Yankees, Fame,
Footloose, Grease, Godspell, Hair, Nunsense, Once Upon A
Mattress, Pippin as well as many other children’s shows and
parades.
She continues to take classes to stay current in her field and
feels fortunate to have studied with some of the greats like
Frank Hachett, Mia Michaels, Brian Friedman, Wade Robinson, Suzi
Taylor and Joe Laterni!
Miss Nikki continues to give back to her students the type of
dance that makes them love entertaining as much as she does and
will continue to education her students in a friendly supportive
atmosphere where students of all ages can learn from her vast
knowledge of dance!
