Intro. to Dance
This is a basic skills class that will help the student to
understand rhythm and movement. Class is broken up into two
sections: ballet and tap. Students will learn the beginning
foundation for each style focusing on basic terminology,
stretching, and basic choreography.
Intro. to Jazz, Intro. to Hip-Hop, Intro. to Ballet
In each dance style students will learn the basics of
understanding rhythm and movement. Class time will be broken
down into sections: stretching, terminology, combinations, and
choreography.
Jazz/Tap
This class will learn both tap and jazz. Class will help the student gain more
control over their movements. In each section students will
begin to learn more complex combinations and choreography to
prepare them in higher levels. Students will begin to learn
simple turns and leaps in this class.
All Level I Classes
Students will continue building their knowledge of dance
terminology. In each dance style students will begin to learn
more complex combinations and choreography to prepare them for
higher levels. Class will focus on excelling in leaps and turns
along with proper stretching and warm-up exercises to ensure
safe and healthy usage of the body in dance. This class will
help the student develop technique and style. Students will stay
in this level for a minimum of two years, or until they are
ready to move up into the next level of class with the
instructors approval.
All Level II Classes
Students will continue to build on their technique, style, and
dance terminology along with enhancing their knowledge in more
advanced forms of dance. Students will learn complex
combinations to strengthen their range of flexibility and
strengthen their muscles. Class will be broken down into
sections helping the student to create strong lines and proper
body placement while dancing. We will be focuses on advanced
choreography, leaps, turns, and terminology in the particular
style they are studying in. Students will stay in this level a
minimum of two years, or until they are ready to move up to the
next class with the instructors approval.
All Level III Classes
This is the highest level of class for tap, jazz, lyrical,
ballet, and hip-hop. Students in this class must have at least 5
years of experience plus an instructor’s approval to be placed
into these classes. Prior to taking this class, students will
have mastered proper body alignment and strengthening exercises
to guarantee that they are using their body to the fullest
potential and in the healthiest way protecting their muscles,
tendons, and ligaments. Students in this class will continue to
strengthen their core muscles to help develop an over all sense
of balance and strength. Classes will continue practicing the
execution of multiple turns and advanced leaps along with
excelling in the highest level of choreography and terminology.
Pointe
Students will only be placed into the pointe program by approval
of the instructor and or owner. Students will continue to
strengthen their ankles, calves, and knees to prepare themselves
to begin executing moves on pointe. This class is a 90 minute
class that is broken into sections using both soft ballet shoes
and pointe shoes. This class will focus on injury prevention and
correct stretching and placement of the body in helping the
student begin training on pointe.
Technique Class
The technique class is an invitation only class that the owner
will personally give to individual students. If you are a new
student to Masters of Movement, you must meet one-on-one with
the instructor to determine qualifications for this class.
Letters of Invitation for the Technique classes will not be sent
home until after the recital. Students in the technique class
will have the opportunity to continue their dance education
outside the studio by participating in master classes,
conventions, and possibly competitions. Students that are
invited into this program must attend all extra classes,
rehearsals, workshops, and conventions that are offered to them.
