"You do such an excellent job with your students and I can't say enough good things about your teaching to other people!"

"Hi Nikki, The recital was just wonderful!!! ... All of the students did a great job and the professionalism of the studio really showed through. I am sure you are proud of all the students but also should be proud of yourself and Miss Shon.  It really was a great show."

"Once again a fabulous performance. Darby & Riley loved dancing at the bandstand. It also gives folks a chance to see the show that didn't come to the recital. I had 2 people in the crowd ask me about "what dance studio is this? and where are they? These girls are great!" ... I feel really blessed that you are the girls dance instructor. You run a great studio, so many details and its obvious your love of dancing as well as your love for your students. This is an important part of young girls developing self confidence, coordination, and discipline. Thank you for all you do to make your program the best around."

"Well, I just want to thank you for the experience (Pulse Tour) and to let you know that you never cease to amaze me with your organizational skills and take-charge attitude. Also, this is the first time I've seen you and Shon dance. You are truly awesome dancers. Wow!"

ANSWERS

CLASSES

How do I register my child?

^TOP

Registration can be made online. If you are mailing in your payment, please understand that by filling out our registration form you are PREREGISTERING to hold a spot in the class you request, not securing your position in class.  To complete the registration process you need to mail your payment within 10 days of your registration day in order to complete the registration process.

How many students are generally in each class?

^TOP

In each class, there are usually around 10-15 students.  This will of course depend on the amount of students that want to learn a particular style.  If there are an excess of students signing up for classes, more classes offering the style of dance will be added.  There is a minimum amount of students (8) needed in order for the studio to hold a class.

Do I have to begin classes in September?

^TOP

Yes.  It is more beneficial for us and the rest of the students who are learning the dances to begin at the same time.  All students will be learning the dances for the same amount of months, making the recital that much more entertaining.  If you have any interest in signing up for classes in the upcoming year, it would be to your own benefit to sign up and begin classes in September.

What months involve dance classes?

^TOP

Dance classes involve the same time frame as educational school.  We will begin teaching classes in September and have a culmination recital in June.  The months of July and August will not contain classes.

What can I expect to happen during each class?

^TOP

Each class will involve a warm-up session, new techniques, specific choreography, and a period for the students to refine their dancing abilities.

Are there any other performances besides the recital?

^TOP

We try to involve our dancers around the town, showcasing their hard work and talent as best we can.  Each year may be different, but the recital is the one event that will always remain.

Can I have a private lesson?

^TOP

Of course.  Fridays are left open on our schedule for private or semi-private classes.

Can I switch classes halfway through?

^TOP

Unfortunately, no.  Similar to the reasons for beginning in September, students have been working hard in their particular class.  There will not be sufficient time to catch a student up in a particular routine.  We encourage you to ensure that you find a time and style that is right for you to avoid such confusion.

How long are classes usually held?

^TOP

Most classes are arranged for one hour at a time.  Private lessons are 30 minutes long, depending on the availability and arrangement of parties involved.

What if a student is too sick to come to class?

^TOP

Unfortunately money will not be refunded and a make-up class will not be offered to make up for missed work.  Given the number of students and commitments, payments for the month have already been accepted and will not be returned.  Tuition is a program fee and is not based on the number of monthly classes a student attends.

What if the teacher is too sick to come to class?

^TOP

We will make every effort to have the class by arranging a substitute to teach class. Substitutes include Miss Nikki, Miss Shon, and Miss Kristi. If a sub is unavailable, the class that is missed will be made up at another time. Make-up classes are generally held on a Friday, but may be at a different time then when the class is usual scheduled.  We will make every possible effort to contact you by phone or e-mail to make the cancellation aware to you.  As a last resort or in the case of an emergency, a note/sign will be placed on the door.  We apologize in advance to those whom we are unable to contact.

When are make-up classes held?

^TOP

Most likely make-up classes will be held on Fridays or Saturdays, as they are the only day free for rescheduling classes.  If a time for a make-up class is too inconvenient for the majority of the students, it may be changed to a different date and/or time.  Please keep in mind that the family is responsible to attend this make-up class since the class is still being offered and other students in the class will  be learning new material.  Refunds will not be given.

Are classes still held if there is a local school district cancellation due to inclement weather?

^TOP

Masters of Movement does not follow the Cape Henlopen School District for inclement weather; some days are safe to drive after the district has cancelled.

We will make decisions for classes in the day no later than 12PM on the day in question.  There will not be calls made to homes to alert parents, it is the responsibility of the family to check this web site, their email, the studio voice mail, and/or WBOC and WMDT for alerts.

Fees will not be refunded for inclement weather.  There are two snow days built into our dance schedule.  If your class is cancelled more than two times due to inclement weather there is a possibility that classes for that particular day will be made up at a later date.

NOTE: If classes ARE held on the day in question, it is the families' personal decision to attend class based on your own capability to travel.  However, know that classes will still be held and dancing will continue.

Are classes still held during school delays, half days, or inservice, or holidays?

^TOP

1 or 2 hour school delays - Classes will resume as normal for that day.  If there is an earlier class that is affected or it is too dangerous to drive it is the responsibility of the family to check this web site and/or the studio voice mail for alerts.
Half-Days - Classes will resume as normal for that day.

Inservice and Holidays - All inservice and holidays are identical to Cape Henlopen School District to make it easier for the families who plan around that day for scheduling purposes, unless otherwise noted on our calendar.

How many dances will I learn for the recital?

^TOP

There will be one dance per dance style.  For example, if you were taking a class in ballet as well as jazz, you would perform 2 dances at the recital.  However, if you are taking a class with more than one dance style, such as a jazz/tap class, you will be performing 2 songs in the recital.

Can I be involved in more than one class during a week?

^TOP

You may be involved in many different classes during the week, including group and/or private.  Please keep in mind that payments for extra classes will be needed, but there is a discount for taking more than one class as well as multiple family members attending the studio.

Can I leave for a month and then return to class?

^TOP

We ask that students try their best to remain in class as long as they can.  If a special case arises special arrangements may be made with the instructor.

PAYMENTS

When do I pay for my classes?

^TOP

Monthly tuition is due on the first class day of every month or no later than the 10th of the month.  If your tuition is paid after the 10th of the month, you are expected to pay a $15 late fee in order to bring your account current.

Please refer to out tuition page for more information on payment policies.

What does tuition pay for?

^TOP

Tuition is a program fee and is not based on the number of monthly classes a student attends.  Please keep this in mind during short and long months that differ in weeks of classes.

Does Masters of Movement accept credit cards?

^TOP

Yes.  We accept Visa and MasterCard. You have the convenience of either paying with your credit card at the studio or online at our payment center.

I forgot my tuition payment, can I still attend class?

^TOP

Of course you can still attend class.  However, a late charge of $15 will apply after the 10th of the month if tuition has not been paid. If you know of a situation that may arise that will make payment not possible on time, be sure to talk to the instructor as soon as possible to avoid this fee.

Can I prepay for my child?

^TOP

Tuition is paid by the month or by semester.  If you would rather prepay, only installments by semester are accepted.

May I opt to not buy a costume?

^TOP

Students must purchase costumes.  Students must expect to purchase them during the year.  Since all students have been working hard to prepare for the recital, having a student refuse to buy a costume will throw off the choreography and ruin the experience for others.  Please plan on the purchase of costumes.

Are payment plans available?

^TOP

Special arrangements will need to be made in person with the instructor.

What extra expenses should I expect to pay each year?

^TOP

Besides classes, students will need to buy costumes.   In addition, students are required to provide themselves with appropriate attire as well as dance shoes or dance equipment.

How much can I expect to pay for costumes?

^TOP

Costumes range depending on the company providing them as well as the complexity of the clothing.  Also, price depends on the number of songs for the recital, since each one may require a new costume.  An average price for a costume would be around $50-$65 each.

How much can I expect to pay for classes?

^TOP

Classes range in price depending on the level of the class involved.  In addition, there will be a registration fee when you first sign up for classes.  Please keep in mind that tuition is on a month-to-month basis, not how many weeks are in a month.

Do I get a discount for taking more than one class in a month?

^TOP

Masters of Movement recognizes students who wish to explore more than one area of dance.  We offer a  discount for each additional class that is taken per class per month.

Please refer to out tuition page for more information on discounts.
